Look for the engine serial number. It should be stamped on a raised, flat boss located on the right-hand side of the block, below #1 sparkplug, kind of behind the magneto. 2 things to remember: 1, after serial number 201,000 or so, (Jim Becker will know the exact number) block serial numbers and tractor serial numbers weren't the same number 2, if the block on your tractor has been replaced, the engine number is meaningless for dating the tractor. If that doesn't work, you can get an approximate date by finding the date codes on the major castings. They will look something like 12*14*K. This would be December 14, 1942. The * will look like the head of a screw. The year is in code. I is 1939, J is 1940 and so on through the final year of B production 1947 which is Q. Hope that helps some.
