David: If you ran the tractor much more than 30 seconds without hydraulic oil, the pump is most certainly cooked. That oil not only performs hydraulic function, but lubricates pump as well. 30 seconds is the difference between a perfect pump and the cooked one. I farmed for many years, had 16 different Farmalls, and have had them apart with oils drained many times. I have never primed hydraulic or oil pump in my life.
