I'm more familiar with the 240, which the 404 is based off of. However, there were some pretty major hydraulic changes made. Seeing that no one else has answered yet, I'll make a guess. On the 240, there is a plug on the top of the left side of the transmission case, right behind the clutch housing. Takes 1 1/4" wrench. I just fill it level full.
