This is a continuation of a previous posting. I was having problems with my I-544 starter. I took it a part and everthing looked good. I reassembled it a tried to start the starter outside of the engin so I could see what was going on. Initially it worked, but after 5 seconds the gear that drives the flywheel stopped turning and started to shake back and forth. Then after a few more seconds it died all togather, but still sounded like the rotor was trying to turn. I put a voltmeter on my battery and it dropped from 12.35V to 3.5V under load. Is this normal? Maybe I have a bad battery also.
