M Experts: Clutch inspection ports?

Please see the thread below, "Clutch Not Disengaging." The owner is getting advised to remove the starter and spray brake fluid on the clutch through the opening. While I know this is a common procedure on 8Ns and other tractors where the most frequent cause of clutch failure is leaking transmission seals, this would be the wrong thing to do on a tractor like the Farmall C where there are clutch inspection ports. If the M has a lubricated throw-out bearing like the C, he needs someone who is familiar with Ms to tell him how to check the throw-out bearing before he starts taking the starter off...
