Hobo, JMG, Bob, et al,
Given the lesson of Ford brakes for a 1999, I feel obligated to tell all...
1. Original caliper seized. Brake line/ caliper and bracket/hose is suspect.
2. Bought rebuilt caliper and bracket and hose. I didn't hink brake hose/caliper connection would be removable.
Fast forward:
3. Installed said brake caliper/bracket and hose, leaked. Tightened it, leaked, Tightened it again, stripped caliper/hose connection.
4. Went to store, got replacement caliper only.
5. Installed second caliper with new hose, tightened it. No leaks.
Without stating the travel time, I wasted many a good daylight hours trying to get a caliper with the hose connection that I originally thought needed more "sealing". My hunches were right. I did not see a way to get yhings to seal right. In hindsight, should have asked for another caliper for comparison.
Sorry to those that tried to help, maybe frustration took advantage fo my poor descriptions, but thanks that tried to steer me right.
Turns out, the calipers have the identical part numbers, however, the caliper's have a different hose bottom joint. The one that worked was deeper, and had a better bottom seal surface.
Just giving the feedback. I may get more pictures, but I was spending time getting it done versus taking a photo journal.
Maybe a part supplier issue, but rather something to look for when taking this on..
