Carb and manifold size

I have been installing a C-153 engine in my Grand-daughters "B" Farmall and ordered a aftermarket manifold that would fit that engine. Upon arrival, it's the same size as the original "B" manifold. The 153 manifold has a 1 1/3" throat verses a 1" for the "B". I went ahead and put the new manifold on and the "B" carb, and it runs good. Question is, will the larger manifold and carb make that much difference in power? The larger manifold exhaust out the rear so would have to do some modification to get it thru hood like original. Also, the exhaust size is the same on both manifolds, just the intake size is different. What are your thoughts?

One other question, I've been running 11.5X24 tires and know that I need something to get the power to the ground. Should I move up to 28" tires, about 13.6"? I also realize that the drive is the weak part of this setup and it may not stand extreme torque, has anyone had any problems in this area?

We pull a BN with a c135, we used a 444 manifold that we match ported and polished. Do the same to the carb. WE run 16.9 X 24 tires.

Mo, I ran 13.6 x 28s on my C153 A, (same diff and gearing as a B I believe), for years until the left bull gear unit ate a bearing. Good chance that "grease worms" got it as it never occurred to me to occasionally maintain that part of a pulling tractor. I pulled it in everything from 2500 to 3500. I wouldn't be afraid to do it again. gm

BTW Mo, they make the larger port upward exhaust manifold that will fit your engine. I bought a new one with a nipple from Cook's Tractor a few years back for right at 100 bucks. gm

Manifold can be worked over to larger diameter as well as the carb , or find a larger carb to fit on there , as far as tires u will defiantly want something larger , but before ju,ping in and getting larger tires look at the local clubs rules where you'll be pulling to make sure that what u end up with for tires will fit in to there rules
