Unstyled John Deere A

I have an Unstyled John Deere A bored .90 over. I am looking for more power, around 50 horse. I have narrowed my options down due to money restrictions. I am looking at cam work and aluminum pistons 10:1 compression or cam work and head work (bigger valves, polishing and porting, etc.). Any suggestions on what would work the best?

Keep the .90 over pistions, not much gain goin to .125. Port the head & manifold, do good valve job, no need for bigger valve's yet. Get a cam from Blackburns & have him lengthen the rods to get your 10:1 , a good carb, ign system & tunning .Murphys roller rockers are nice up grade to.

Yeah, if you go to Josh Blackburn he'll get you 50 horses out of that engine......but you'll have to follow his directions to the letter. It'll be no cheap trick...That's almost double what that engine had when it was new from the factory....Lot of difference between the unstyled grease burner and the late A's straight gas burner.
