Need more power

Just recently bought and have gotten into tractor pulling. Bought a 54' farmall C but with a 200 motor, kind of a Frankenstein unit. Calling it a super C I guess. It smokes like crazy and when I dump the clutch and start pulling the stone boat with like 4000+ pounds it just falls right on its face. I'm assuming I need a rebuild kit but also want to up the power of possible. Did an oil change and I'm running 30 weight with Lucas additive. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

You should be able to pull a 4000# stone boat. A 1954 would be a Super C not a C. Do a compression test. The block should have a C-123 on the side, and no dipstick which would indicate a correct motor.
If its got at least 100psi of compression, then theres another reason why it wont pull such as a distributor issue, carb too lean or tires that are way too big.

You need to give a little more details to color of smoke. Light blue would be burning oil and black would be running to rich. You didn't say if your put new
plugs, wires, cap, rotor, condenser and points ( also check timing). Find you a color chart of spark plug tips and the color and condition of plugs give you
an idea whats going on with engine.

The smoke is blue (burning oil) motor has a dipstick, and you're right, I should start with s good tune up also and see if that helps. I will be up at my shop Monday and try to offer more information.
