Hauling suitcase wieghts

Looking for a better way to haul suitcase weights from pull to pull. I leave them on my tractor now but was thinking about a bracket on front of my trailer. I haul 2000#. Any ideas?

I wouldn't. Parking is usually at a premium so you would not be able to back up to them. You would have to carry every one to the back of the trailer. My 3500#s stay on the tractors.

We haul ours on the tractors and when traveling we have some straps and tie them all together so they don't bounce off.

Got to one pull and had a couple laying on trailer deck and decided we didn't need one sailing off and going through windshield of soccer mom van. Now we always tie them down.

That's what I do. I leave them all on the tractors and just tie a strap from the rack, through the handles and back to the rack. Some pulls none fall off, while others I get there and find a weight hanging from the strap.

I built a portable rack to hang them
on. Run straps through the handle
holes to tie it all to trailer. If I
need the trailer for something else :
I can set off the entire rack of
weights at one time with the loader
tractor instead of unloading them one
at a time by hand.I have had the bolts
break in the weight brackets from
having large amounts of weight hanging
on them for long periods of time and
rough roads. Never lost the whole bar
: but close. Enough for me to not
want to carry more than a few hundred
pounds on them in transport.

Over 30 years ago the 856 IH pictured was hauled lots of miles with 3200 lbs of weights on it and I never lost
any...I'd sure hate to handle that many weights today..

I haul my U MM puller with 1200 lbs on it...The front weights are tied down....I see a few pullers that haul all of
their weights on the front of the trailer..

I have seen a few guys that have portable racks, and have a hoist on the side of the trailer so they can set the racks on the ground.

After several back surgeries & injections I can't handle the heavy weights and have went to mostly 25lb. barbell weights and leave them on most of the time but have strapped them to floor of trailer. I carry a 1,000 lbs. on 450 and 1,200 lbs. on WD45 that are moveable and some stay on all the time.

I like your 25# weights. My 100#'s never move, only move 40#,50#,& 70# around. Carry 3500# on the GVI & 2000# on the M. Spectators are more than happy to help.

This is a pit wagon I have been working on for weights, tools, generator, etc. Common in racing but haven't seen any in pulling and maybe it will end up being more of a bother than benefit.

Has anyone ever had success using heavy wheel weights at tractor pulls. They would be nice for jumping a class but hauling them and using them in the pit seem like a
challenge. I have 4 of those thick MM weights, about 4 x 23" and made pipe style wheel brackets but got stuck on the idea there.
