C 301 into IH 460 or 560

You need the back plate from the 560 and the front cover from the 263 motor so your steering shaft can go through under it.

You won't need to swap oil pans if the C-301 is coming from an 806. When installed in a 715 combine, it has a different oil pan that needs to be converted.

Even if you have to the pans have to come off to change the front cover and cover adapter plate. As does the front pulley and the cam. So then the lifters & push rods must come out & if your that far along you just as well pull the head and clean the chambers up & see what things look like up there. Have the cam ground for low end torque, that will be the best money you will spend. If you leave it all stock, at 460/560 stock rpm you will only get about 75hp. That's alot of work for 15hp. The cam grind & a little head work will get you 90 to 95hp. If you have a friend help you two Sunday afternoons and a case of beer and your ready.

Different max on the rpm & different pto, not comparing apples to apples. I am up to 105hp & that is major work & dollars.

Swap out back plate etc from tractor if getting from 715 combine. Really you'd be about as well just to redo the current motor. The differences in the 460/560 gas vs 301 can be replicated in a machine shop, actually they can be done better than a stock 301. Those motors don't have all that much torque on the lower rpm side anyways. Open up the head, better pistons, and 3000 rpm will do you well (make sure you balance it well and use steel flywheel if going much over 3000.
