So I guy talked me into buying that kit to pull my m and I have nothing but problems with the tractor it overheats very fast and I have trouble keeping it running anyone have suggestions

I am no fan of Denny, but simply adding a
4.375" bore should not cause the engine to
overheat. Is the head gasket leaking
compress?on? Is the thermostat in
backwards? Are you running a thermostat?
You should be, as most engines (with t-
stats) have a bypass that is blocked when
the t-stats opens. If you have no t-stats
then water is being "short-circuited"
around your radiator and not cooled.

I have done a block with this setup, its not just bore block and put sleeves in. More work is needed to
make hold together. The kit I was brought to make fit in block was not to bad of kit, it had repair
sleeves(which can be made work) and some arias pistons.Your block may be able to be saved if you can get
a machinist that wants to take the time to do it right.I am not a fan of Denny's and would not buy his
stuff. If you want you can e-mail and then we can talk about a solution. 4 3/8 can go into a 248 block.

You should be a you may able to put repair sleeves in it. If your head gasket is leaking between cylinders will also cause heating porlems

your problem isn't related to bore size, just because it's bored that far shouldn't make it overheat faster

The head gasket does not appear yo be leaking and this was the kit that had the sleeves in it I also have a baker can in the tractor I never thought to check the tstat

Two things. 1.Are you losing coolant? 2.Is there compression getting into your cooling system? If you have compression leaking into your cooling system then you should see bubbles through the top of the radiator. If you are not losing coolant and compression is not getting into the cooling system then it is not the Denny's kit but rather your cooling system. I am no expert but I have seen thermostats, bad water pumps, and radiators all cause this. I am not defending Denny's. I worked on this same setup last spring putting a new water pump and bigger clutch in an M that had the Denny?s kit and the crankshaft did not have the proper dowl pin holes in making the bolts do all the work. I was very unimpressed.
