Hey Guys:

What needs done to make a 88 a good stock puller. 4mph speed limit 15.5-38 non cut tires max? Who makes a delete cover for the cultivator lift where shifter goes in tranny? Who makes lightweight hubs for factory tricycle front end? What are good engine options? Work on stock gas engine, install a 310 gas, or install a 310 diesel turbo from 1855/1955? How light can you get one with factory parts and pto still in?

we had a 1954 super 88 that was stripped with light hubs on the front and pressed steel 15.5-38 top cuts on the rear. it weighed in right around 4klb. the supers weigh a little more from the factory. we had a 360c.i. motor that started life as a 265c.i.. it had 4.375 bore, factory stroke, cam re-ground, electronic ignition and some carb work. it would pull second gear all day long 4500-6500 with 3mph limit. never tried a taller cog but in the lighter classes no doubt it would have spun out not peter out. we also ran 110 octane which I don't think helped much but it sure did smell good!!
