Do any of you have a superwinch brand winch on your trailer? I have seen them very reasonable in price. A local store has a 9500lb on sale this week for $350. Are they any good?

The $350 Superwinch is probably their econo Tiger Shark model, std price for that specific winch, not a bargain. As with anything "econo", it will not have the long lasting durability of the $1,000 Talon Series winch. We have used Superwinches for many years in the racing trailers with good results, but these are the 3,500 lb catagory and always inside, never out in the weather, for a 2,600 lb car. Normally used only a couple of times on Friday and Saturday night from April-October. We don't use our trailer winches on a daily basis, not heavy duty like a tow truck or farmer might. The 6,000 lb winch on my last trailer was much faster than the 3,500 lb models and doubling the capacity of what is typically pulled would be my recommendation. Pulling with a winch at max rated capacity, they creak and grind along, the fairleads wear out quickly, so they do pull the load, but it seems like under protest. On my gooseneck for a 5,000 tractor I have a 9,000 lb winch.
