saw this in the HOOK. whats the purpose?

Im not involved with that tractor but I would think its a safety precaution in the event of a break in the clutch housing.

I can't speak for the people that own the tractor in the pic but a few years ago I put them on my H to try to eliminate an issue. It helped with the issue. It wasn't intended on incase it broke in half.
