300 farmall ?

I have been pondering the idea of setting my 300 up for pulling. It got a lot of snort with a recent overhaul and has a healthy governor. Its a TA delete, which may or not be good thing for pulling but I think it will be alright.. I have built two cylinders before, but have not done much with IH gassers. Years ago I pulled a hot farm 806 D that did me very well, but I haven't pulled a tractor for ten years. I know things have changed, but id like to get back into it again. So my question is, would the 300 make a good candidate, or not?

There are some 300s around that I know of that pull pretty well in the division 3 type categories. A couple 350s that pull division 2 always seem to do quite well. The only thing about them is they give up quite a bit of cubic inches right off the bat compared to say an allis, and a very well built stripped down M will be comparable in weight and have 100 cubic inches on ya right away. And if they're anything like a 400 farmall, they can be nose heavy. But with the almighty dollar and a whole army of its friends, anything can be made to pull well. I bleed IH red, and I like Ms but I like the looks of the hundred/fifty series, so I'd do it. Sometimes it's nice to see something other than another M coming down the track.

yea, they can play a good game of low gear. 5500-7000lb if TA is good.

Thanks for the info. What kind of hubs are available to switch to pressed wheels?

The ones on my H are welded on. There is a way of machining a key to accept Oliver or Minneapolis moline bolt on hubs. They keys are different size than the H.
