JD G Clutch

Is there such a thing as metallic button clutch disks for a big cubic inch G? Or something that will hold more than the stock clutch disks?

Yes. I was going to do this to mine but decided to stay with the stock setup after I heard the buttons are tough on the drive disk. I"d rather frequently replace the facings. My G is only 600 cubes. I have a number to call if you want but I need to confirm.

I have run the same stock one for over 2 years and have not had any problems. My motor is around 980 ci. Stock clutch will hold up.

There shouldn't be a problem with the toggle snap type clutch on "G"s from about 1945 on up.
The earlier cone type clutch would seem to be more susceptible to slipping, in my opinion.
