Loss of a great man Doug Chapman.

My grandfather Doug Chapman passed away yesterday. I could write for about a month on how much that man taught me and did for me. He knew more than any man should of. As a kid I could be stumped on some off the wall project and a phone call away I'd have the answer I was looking for. Grandpa was diagnosed with stage 4 non curable kidney cancer 7 months ago. He had cancer everywhere. In his bones. Shoulders. Hips. The amazing doctors in Ann Arbor Michigan froze places of cancer and used alcohol to kill his 4x enlarged kidney infested with cancer. He had a tumor pressing on his spinal cord and was hours away from being paralyzed and in a ton of pain. They pinned and rod his back and removed the cancer. He was on a kemo pilll that we just received fantastic news the cancer had stopped spreading. He was out working on tractors and doing chores again. A long ways from not being able to get out of the chair. He was hooking a chain up to move a log and fell backwards and hit his head pretty hard. He went in and was taking it easy, ate lunch. Started to get a head ache 4-5 hours later and long story short had a brain bleed and went unresponsive. We were blessed to all get to say our good byes at the hospital and he went peacefully. All we could ask for. He worked Until the day he died and thats all he would of wanted. Keep my family and especially my grandma in your prayers. Ill post funeral arrangements soon. Thanks and god bless.

Josh, so sorry to hear about your grandpa. He was a good man, and like you said, he was full of knowledge. Really enjoyed talking to him the few times that I did. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Josh.

Loni and I are very sorry for your loss. You are right. Doug was a great man. He always made a point to talk to me when we seen each other at pulls. Always in good spirits. He will be missed! If there is anything you need, please let me know.

Also, please give my condolences to the rest of the family.

Josh, Grandpa Doug was one of the first guy"s I met when I started pulling. He was always friendly and very helpful to me. I would always visit with him in Florida every year. Great guy, great puller. The kind of person that makes pulling a fun sport. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the Chapman family.

Thanks, Leroy Nurenberg

Very Sorry to hear of your Loss..

Those (few) people who are so talented and always there continue to have a presence in your life.!

Not a day goes by that Dad or my Grandad don't make their presence felt, here.

Ron.

Josh,

Doug was one of those guys you just loved to be around. We always seemed to have something good to chat about after a good handshake at many a pull. He's one of those faces you're just used to seeing there. Not seeing him standing there grinning and not getting that handshake will leave a big hole in the hearts and minds of many of us. The thoughts and prayers of the Berry boys are with you, Tom, your grandma, and the whole family.

Ethan
