This topic has been beaten many times. Everyone has a different opinion based on different criteria.

Depends on your intended class and what the rules will allow.

Also depends on if you NEED to win, want to be competitive, or just want the social part of it.

A wd with a wd45 engine is competitive for not to much money.

A farmall H or M arn't bad choices with the cheapest wheel weights available.

If you already own something, go with that. Good luck and have fun.

Well iam working on a 9n and thinking of useing that, but id like to get a little biger. iam trying to be competative but not have to change the tractors origanil figure.

A Allis WD 45 is the cheapest power. With a Diesel
ring and pinion or one from a D17. and 15.5 X 38
tires. they are tough in the 3500 to 4500. You can
stroke it a 1/2 in and leave the rear end alone.

Farmall Super C, H, and Super H always pull very well. Allis Chalmers WD45s are good pullers, too. If you want to modify the tractor much (overbore, stroke job, etc.) you should look into a Farmall M. They are pretty cheap, plus the drivetrain will readily handle the extra power. You mentioned having a Ford 9n. You will not be competitive with that tractor. It's first gear is in the neighborhood of 4 miles per hour! As far as Allis tractors, they all pull very good. However, I think Oliver and Farmall pull as good or better for the weight.
