I posted before about changing a clutch inframe in a 77 and was told it could be done..looking at mine with the belt pully on it im wondering how I will have enough room ..is there anything else I have to remove? I also have a grinding in the pto when its disengaged and freewheeling...I can engage it and it stops making noise or pull back on the handle to get it to stop and it doesn't roar..is there a bearing in there or is it the clutch drive and plates im hearing..thanks for the help and advice

you can change the clutch with motor in frame, but if you have a belt pulley gearbox you have to remove that first.

You don't HAVE to remove the belt pulley gearbox. I've unbolted the motor mounts, taken off the fan and got the motor twisted around far enough to the side and ahead so it'll clear, but I don't know which way is easier.
The PTO noise could be just the center plate in the clutch pack. There are two discs with a plate in between. There are three little springs that go through that plate that are supposed to push everything apart. They're usually broken at this stage of the game.
