my 52 8n has a hungup float or float valve, I recently changed the seat and valve and it seemed to work ok I.e.. the float valve dropped or opened when the float went down, i put it together and it ran ok for awhile then started doing same thing running till bowl empy , i have full flow from tank to carb. but onlyu a dribble out of bowl drain. is there anything i can try from outside to get float valve to open when float goes down, gravity is what drops the float valve right there is no direct connection fronm float to float valve right? at least i didnt see one. would spraying pb blaster in gas inlet do any good? any ideas i can try other than dropping carb and changing seats and valve again.

" any ideas i can try other than dropping carb"

No.

Drop the carb & see if the float is hanging on the side of the bowl.

Did you set the float correctly?

Did you check the float for leaks?

You change the seat and needle so was it the brass needle or the rubber tipped one that is suppose to have thew spring clip on it so it can not hang up??

As stated check the float for bowl clearance. Then take a file to the sides of the needle, the China parts are just a little over size and a little rough.

I believe it was the brass one, I dont remember a rubber tip. So there is a float valve that has a spring connection , does it have a groove for the wire connection?. My buddy overhauled a previous 8n carb for me and he remembers a very small wire connection that came with the rebuild kit, this was a repair kit with gasket seat and float valve obviously i should have bought a kit from our host instead of going to big r.

what brand of rebuild kit do i buy to make sure it has rubber tip float valve and spring connection to float so it cnat hang up? where can i find a picture of this setup.

I hate to bring up the obvious, but have you tried loosening the gas cap. Your symptoms could be from a plugged vent hole in the gas tank creating a vacuum and starving the carb for gas.

I buy Walker Brand kits sold at my local O'Reilly's auto parts. Kit number 778-505A is the one for a 8N and cost is around $20
