Hyd valve problem

I just purchased a new hyd valve body, piston, and 3 rings for my 8N ford. Installed the rings very carefully by hand to make sure there was no problem going together. But now that I have it installed and running the lift will barley raise the blade even at high idle and I removed the inspection cover and raised the blade and watched the hyd body after I turned the engine off and oil just streams out of the body as the blade comes to the ground. I staggered the 3 rings as you would do on any piston so I am at a lose of what is going on. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks
Dale

ell, if oil coming out of mouth of cylinder, it doesn't leave many choices, broken piston, scored/worn cylinder. But if coming from cylinder to top cover attachment points, then one of the four gaskets may not be in place. P.S. the 'valve body" is in the pump on the N tractors.

Ok sorry on the valve body term. But I did install a new cyl. body, new piston, and new rings. The is very defiantly coming from the cyl body as the blade comes down. I am in the process of pulling the lift off again to inspect the cyl and it's components. What I am wondering is can the rings be installed wrong on that piston?

een awhile since I replaced rings, but I don't think they are different. If I remember correctly, there are 4 bolt holes and one oil flow hole in the cylinder mount to cover and I'm pretty sure that there are 5 paper gaskets involved. If any are missing, then the two parts cannot mate properly and oil leak results.

Since you purchased a new cylinder body, I'm wondering why you didn't purchase a new NAA piston for it. It only has one ring and it's not steel. It also has a leather wiper but I wouldn't call that a ring. Most people that replace the piston use the newer type one.

I ordered by serial number and that was what yesterdays tractor showed for my serial number so that was what I ordered. My mistake for not asking if there was anything better. I now have the cyl apart and there is nothing wrong with the rings, piston or the body. The rings are not marked top or say up. I had them installed with the chamfer down or toward the opening in the body. So I am going to turn them over and try again but I have found nothing saying anything about installation of those rings.

If the long narrow oval and 2 small round gaskets are not in place between the cyl and the top cover, it WILL leak, and pour down
over that cyl.

hanks for the info but I glued the new gaskets in place when I assem. it. And with the mirror that I am using I can see the oil coming from around the piston and out the cyl.

Looks like you did not get the memo the leather backer was replaced with a neoprene washer/backer ring... Its a nice upgrade over the leather deal :)....

I thank all of you who replied to help on this problem. It appears that the rings that came with the new piston are the wrong rings. After I turned the rings over and reassem. it still leaked as bad as before. So YT is sending me another body the NAA piston and hopefully the proper seal and backing ring. I hope it solve the problem. I have replaced the piston and rings on other tractors before and never had a problem. But this one was a bad deal. Again thanks for all of the help.
