Hyd Oil Temp

I was running a brush cutter with the 4250 and the Hyd Oil Temp light flashed several times just as I was finishing up. I'm looking for tips on where to start trouble shooting. The tractor is a Power Shift; the day was HOT; the stuff I was cutting was pretty light and tractor was not working hard at all. The oil reservoir is full and the oil cooler and radiator are both clean.

Thanks

VERIFY that the finned area of both the radiator and the oil cooler are CLEAN using backlighting.

I washed the oil cooler and radiator out good this spring with a Hotsy washer but I'll check with the back lighting as suggested. I am thinking of checking the temp with an infrared thermometer to rule out a faulty sensor; where should I take the temp and what range should the hyd oil be for temp (or what temp causes the sensor to activate)?

Thanks,

The other thing to check is the operation of the fan clutch. If not working properly, it will not pull enough air across the radiator / oil cooler.

First think I would check is the wire, make sure it has not rubbed bare.. you were bush hogging, don't know how tall the grass or weeds were...

Based upon the tips I have received, I plan to look for bare wires, then verify the radiator and oil cooler are actually clean. If all that looks good I am going to look into a locking kit for the fan clutch. I have found several old posts that indicate that locking the fan on the 50 and 55 series is fairly common.

TX Jim, you said you have a locked fan on your 4255, do you take it off in winter or just run it all the time?

Thanks for all the replies and assistance!

Yes, good comment. I didn't think of that as most around here have the "fan clutch override links installed.
