The original subject was "Questions?? Gehl 1400 round baler".

About not starting a bale? I just lost the bottom table belt 46 inches wide and put a new one on and now I have a brand new baler. It'll start a bale even with the belt de-tensioner locks left flipped on, dry hay, too big of wind rows, light hay, what have you. I did weld on 4 - 1 inch wide by .25 inch tall bars across the feeder roller, like the John Deere uses a couple years ago. It helped but nothing like having traction on the table belt. Wonder if a coating on the belt would help? Also there are 2 different lengths of belt depending on early or later. Check your serial number. But also measure the belt there is a 13 inch difference. I ended up cutting the one I got down and resplicing it.

The guy I got mine from sold it to me for scrap price because it wouldn't start a bale for him and his wife bought him a John Deere to save his testimony.

So my question is how to adjust the twine cutter knifes so that it will cut and not scrape itself full of twine debri?

rrlund probably has the best idea, but I just took mine off and sharpened it this year when I started having trouble. Works like a new one now. Bob
