Identify Mower and Cart

Need help identify this mower and cart. Tag on Mower says Huffman Company in Ohio with a #4844 and serial number of 6018 on it. The engine is a B & Sratton with the following numbers: Model 100902, Type 0151 01, Code 6411201. Is this the correct engine for this mower.
The cart has sticker on front says Ohio Company. I think the mower is a Huffy Rachero 4844 after alot of research. Dont now each year made. Needing all the information on it so that I can purchase a belt and other parts to restore it along with what color to paint it. Same thing on identifying the cart. All help would be most appreciated. Thanks Diana

Wow, does that bring back memories! Yes, it is a Huffy. First riding mower my dad bought me. I was about 10 at the time, would make that about a 65 model. Tough little mower, I immediately put it to work mowing as many yards as I could get!

That appears to be a 4 HP motor, that would have been factory.

Green and white should be under the red somewhere.

The original muffler was a square box type with a little diverter that blew the exhaust forward. Then it drifted back, always made mt eyes burn. The clutch worked backward, had to hold it down to make it go. When the muffler burned out, it blew exhaust on my foot. Figured out I could screw a street ell into the block, swing it around and run a straight pipe out the back. Much better, sounded cool too! Soon I discovered the governor linkage, reach down and give it a pull... My make believe nitrous button! LOL Never did blow the motor, did break the governor though. Oh well, it was fun for a dumb kid!

According to your information, the engine was made on November 20, 1964 at assembly plant #1. It is 10 cubic inches, vertical shaft, Pulsa-jet carburetor, pneumatic governor, and should have a rewind starter.

As to the rest of the mower, I don't know....

Thanks for the replys. Still looking to find a manual that would tell me the colors to paint the mower, the correct decals and parts list.

Yes, its a Huffy Ranchero. By any chance does yours have a differential? The one Dad had had a solid rear axle and it took about a 20 ft. radius to turn. I am thinking the front wheels are wrong. Should be about 1" smaller diameter and tread should be about 2.5" wide.

Like others said, its green and white. frame and steering supports are a turquoise green, kinda a light green/blue color and the wheels, hood, fender and seat are white.

I do not know where you can get any manuals. When I re-did (not restored, I installed a differential and a different front axle) Dad's, someone on here e-mailed some pictures from a brochure.

I had to get decals made. Luckily, a man living at the apartment complex where I was staying worked at a business that made decals for race cars. He made me some. I just copied the Huffy logo off a magazine advertisement, told him what colors each part was and about what size it should be. I did not have the black band at the bottom of the hood reproduced. It said something about "Huffy Ranchero 4 hp."

I think you have the correct engine. Ours was a 100000 series too. Like the others said, the correct muffler is the square muffler with a baffle to devert the exhaust to the front. It also had a heat shield that went behind the left hood support and extended most of the way to where the left pedal pivots in the frame.

One suggestion would be to update to an electronic ignition. Its no fun to remove the hood, steering wheel, cover and flywheel just to file the points.

It would get really hot around the legs when mowing. No extra power when cutting either. Perhaps that is why I have no kids. . .

They're fun to ride and show, though.

Good luck with your Huffy and keep us posted with pictures.

I had one of these I bought used in the early 80's that had a differential, when same went bad I made a solid axle & had same problem as you after that, tractor acted like it was on rails & had to chop throttle to almost idle to make a still wide turn, another fun thing was when muffler went bad & you didn't install a street el on exh and a new muffler same would cook your ankle/foot while holding deadman clutch.

Thanks for the response. Do you have any pictures of your mower that you could email me so I know more about what part needs to painted what colors. Also what color white is used on them. Any particular brand of paint used. Needing to get a drive belt. The belt is old and slipping and will not let the mower pull very good at all. I have a place that makes decals if I had a good picture of the decals that goes on it and the location of each. Thanks against for all your responses. Any idea on the cart as to the colors it needs to be. I will post pictures as i proceed with the restoration of it.

Could not find a blue green color that I liked so I decided on blue and white. Waiting on my decals. Need to know what decal goes on the dash on the hood

Nice restoration! Can you post the final photos? Can you tell us more about how far you disassembled and prepped for paint and what paints you used? How did the decals come out? Do you still have templates you could share? I just bought one of these yesterday and started tearing it down for a re-paint.
