Hi, I recently purchased this tractor after watching out for one for a number of years. My Grandfather bought one new and it was the first tractor I drove when I was 5 or 6. Till I bought this one the last time I sat on one was at my Grandfathers retirement auction in 1970 when I was ten, I started it up before the bidding started.

This one show 7000 hours on the meter and I'm wondering if that is considered high hrs. It starts and runs great but I know no history of the tractor whether it has been rebuilt or not.

I plan on restoring this one and will a ton questions about these tractors. Thanks Jeff

You can probably tell if the engine has been apart, but that alone does not ensure
its been rebuilt. If appearance means anything, that one does look in good shape;if
maintenance was on par with that care,7000 hours while high, it should have lots of
life left. They were a pretty durable model, lots built in England and sold in
Canada. Good deal of info and wisdom on this site for that Tractor. Ben

Thanks Ben, I'm in London ONT. I looked over the engine for tell tale signs that it was wrenched on and could not see any, but does not mean that it hasn't been opened up at sometime.

I changed all fluids except for steering box which I topped up. Your right about info and wisdom here, I've went through all the Fordson pages FM, FPM & FSM related topics. It's like a good book you keep going back to, especially with my memory lol! Jeff

I am about 1 and a half hours north of London, neighbour used to have one like that.
Another fellow nearby is a mechanic who collects Fordsons and knows a lot about them.

I am 1.5 hours North East of London (England). Those tractors will be OK for many more hours than 7000,
even if it was second time around the clock, I would not be too worried.

Look out for breathing from the front breather on the timing cover, if badly worn the engine will slobber
oil from here.

Most parts are still available over here.

Thanks Majorman, that's great news! The breather on the timing cover was dry when I got it and there is no element in it. I did put oil in it and have taken it on a couple of 2-3 kilometer runs down the road and there was no sign of oil coming out there. The only leak so far is the injection pump driveshaft seal in the timing cover. I've been eyeing parts in England and did order and promptly received brake dust covers from AGRI PARTS UK.

Next I want to put a oil pressure gauge on it and adjust the valves. Jeff
