1957 Ford 850 K - All fuel question?

Hello,

I bought a 57' ford 850 a few days ago. I brought it home on Saturday, and was planning to take it a part for use of parts on some other tractors we have. I first noticed the fuel tank, it has two fuel caps, one marked "gas", and one "Kerosene". I then looked at the serial and model stamp on the frame, and it is marked "850 K". My dad came over and looked at it as well (who grew up around a lot of 50's and 60's model ford tractors) and he has never seen an "all-fuel" ford tractor. I have been searching online to find some research on this model, and I can find nothing. I was just wondering if anyone might know anything about these all-fuel models, I would hate to part out a complete tractor that could have historical value.

Thank you

I don't think that it is an "all-fuel" model. I believe that it is a kerosene model, but it uses gasoline during starting and then after that it gets switched to run on kerosene.

All fuel is a term for a JD tractor. Your ford is a as said kerosene tractor and probably would not run well on many things the old JD tractor would run on. I own a JD-B all fuel and have run it on a number of different things. I found it ran best on a nmix of gas and diesel and puffed out big smoke rings at idle

Sounds like a kerosene model. The two gas caps is a give-a-way. I would think that would be extremely rare by 1955, especially if it is in the US. I know there was a kerosene 8N model (8NAN), but heard most of them went overseas. It should have a different intake/exhaust manifold as well unless it has been replaced with a gasoline only manifold. If it was mine, I would not part it out given it's rarity.

Don't know much about them but I do know they are very rare. I would not part it out. If you aren't interested in restoring I would say sell it in one piece. If it
were mine I would probably keep it for a lifetime and slowly restore as $$$ and parts came in.
