I need to replace the oil pan gasket on my 1955 860 and am wondering if I need to remove the hydraulic pump manifold in order to remove the oil pan. Has anyone removed the oil pan without removing the hydraulic manifold or must the manifold come off. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

The oilpan can be removed without removing the hyd pump manifold. One or two of the oilpan bolts near the hyd manifold are a little tight, but they are accessible. Do you have an oil leak at the back of your engine? It may not be the oilpan gasket, it could be the rear main or trans input shaft seal if you are seeing oil from the back of the engine.

agreed, pan comes off with hyd manifold in place. I did my 660 a while back, pan was dented from running over something, replaced it with a good spare. I didn't even have to take my 722 loader off, but did have to jack and loosen the front bracket, as said, to get at those front bolts.
