I got my head back from the machine shop yesterday
with the valve job an installed today, set the
valves using John UK's count to nine method then
installed the manifold, carb and set timing. Using
aux. gas can I fired her off and she ran for about
10 seconds then shut her down as it's not got water
in it yet.All looks good.

congratulations. I had spent several hours working on getting things back to what it should be on my FE-35 as I had to replace a worn timing chain and the dist., and governor settings were way off.

Water? Lu? Agua? Not antifreeze? Don't trust your weather. I never do.

So what was the damage? I don't know about these engines. I had better compression readings before I rebuilt it... so now's they're like 10? 15? on the gauge. But starts like a grenade and is outright deafening. Did I mention power? Yet the gauge says it still needs a rebuild...
And now that TEA/85-20 is tied down and ready to become an O K 20... soon as they plow the roads... this is getting like the hotel California... you can check out any time you like... but you can never leave.....

10 or 15?You won't be plowing with those numbers. Just become a snowbird. That gal next door got your eye? #1 is 100 and the rest at 120. Yeah Gov I replaced the timing chain on the other and the gear, wish these had a tensioner like a diesel.
