656/Woods ditchbank cutter

Anyone with experience with a Farmall 656 with a 6' Woods ditch bank-offset rotary mower. Or similar size tractor with this mower. Problem areas to look for with this mower (used). Thanks much.

Used a Bush Hog brand ditch mower on my 560. All it wanted to lift, and needed weight on the front end. If the mower caught something, it would swing the tractor right around sideways.

Like any used machine, leaks, loose drive line parts, big goobered welds. Unless it led a very sheltered life, the deck will be beaten up to some degree. It would be a bonus if it has gauge wheels, mine never had them, or they had been torn off before I got it.

We bought a used one years ago and the bottom of the gear box was wallowed out bad enough that you couldn't keep a seal in it so we just tried to keep it full of grease

The Woods brand is as good as any brand out there,i got a 10 ft offset, single wing, the only thing is the center section should be a 6 or 7 foot wide piece,[instead of 5 foot] so that the wing, would follow the ditch bank a little better!!!

I have one of those that I use on my 784, that's as much as it can handle, as far as the mower, Woods makes a good sturdy one.
