1939 farmall H

'Worth' a bit more,but not a lot.Not a 'gold mine'.You're looking at $1000 tops,more like 500 to 700 for a nonrunner.Condition is everything. For a show tractor,or for bragging rights,pretty neat. For a user,not a bit better than any other H.If the price is right,or free,by all means go for it.

i don't like paying more than scrap metal weight value for a non runner unless it for sure has parts on it I need or could sell. generally, no mor ethan 500$ for a non runner.

one with excelent tins and new tires would go more.. but with no pics.. just giving you general.

When you come right down to it, running means one thing, it runs. That doesn't tell you if block or head is on the way out or crankshaft is shot. If I was buying it I would not care one little bit if it was running or not, stuck or not, as it would be coming apart anyway and ninety nine times out of a hundred you would need the same parts to make it right anyway. Worst thing I see is someone pulling the darn things around , wrecking all kinds of additional parts trying to get it running. You just have to look over the general condition and take a leap or let it go. Just me though.

Unless it's a very low SN or very original I would say it's worth only 10% more than a regular H. A 39 probably has a lot more working hours than a 52 model. I have two 39's by the way, one running and one dead.

Here, even something that runs, like this H

or an M that "needs work" http://ashtabula.craigslist.org/grd/5287292390.html
seems to be pretty dear, at least to those holding them.
