Found a Nice 740 Case Tractor

Picked up a super nice 1967 Case Model 730 tractor Saturday. It is a model 740, Gas Standard. Looks like they only made 14 of them in '67, and only 45 of them all total.

Only trouble with the tractor is the grill screens and I believe I have a nice set that will go right on them. If not, I know where there are some. The tach shows 1850 hours but I'm not sure if it has been changed out. The owner told me the fellow he got it from 20+ years ago bought the tractor for his wife to drive so it didn't have many hours. He said 1100 or so when he got it and he put about 700 on it. Not sure of the hours, but it looks and operates like a low houred tractor. Ordered with the factory 3 point. Tractor really runs great and was always shedded.

It is indeed a nice looking tractor. You can probably straighten the grills with a 1x with 45d bevels cut on one side to fit in the Vs of the grill.
Looks like the old milk cow scratched her back on the front of the tractor. HeHe.

That looks like the thing to have. I will get me a set for the Case tractors. Thanks for the information. Bob

Very nice tractor, there are many ways to verify the estimated hours, but it looks pretty sharp from here

It came from Southern Kansas. It was sold from Zolodek and Son's Implement by the sticker that is still on it. Bob

We know the 730 was lower in power than the larger 30 series numbers. Unless roaded a lot, it would generally take the 730 a lot more than 2000 field hours to bring about the replacement of the rear tires. The rears look about right to be original with about 2000 hrs. Generally, the pin hole wear in a drawbar tends to be "tell tale" about hours on a tractor.

Sometimes, paint wear on the leading edges and tips of the fan blades can be a clue to hours of use. The amount of throttle linkage wear, paint on the fan belt, gear shift linkage wear, etc. also have stories to tell.

that's one sharp ole tractor.

I have never been a fan of the standard axle but at this day an age its a collectors item and over-all its a sharp tractor.
