[u:4c46530dbd]You need to start by cleaning the points. If the condenser is bad. You will have fire at the points but not through the coil. Fairbanks magneto seen to have more bad coils than other brands.
There is a guy on ebay selling FM coils for Mercury outboard motors. They are much cheaper. I have used three of them with no trouble.

Could you elaborate more on this coil, like model#, part# or anything else that would help identify the coil? Also who is the guy selling them? Any and all help is appreciated by me and I'm sure by others who read this post.
