Ariens beats Blizzard of 93 | In March of 1993, a huge winter storm covered much of the Northeast, including Wellsburg, WV. I used my mothers 1978 Ariens S-12H with 48' two stage snow blower to clear many, many driveways and the lane on which my mother lives. In over two feet of snow, only one other piece of machinery could move, and it was an old bulldozer. I wish I had video of how well the Ariens performed on that day. (A 16 horse engine, however, would have been nice, the 12HP was a little out of breath moving that depth of snow. ) The two stage snow blower really does the job, although rarely do I use it since the tractor plows so well with the 54' blade. The 1978 Ariens is still being used today by my mother. It has been a very good machine. I do the maintenance personally. I own a 1991 John Deere 316 which I really like.
