Building Farmall Tractors | I grew up in Missouri in farm country. At 16 I went to work for a farmer and worked with a Farmall M. I loved to plow and disc with this tractor. When I turned 18 I moved to Rock Island, Illinois and went to work for International Harvester in the Farmall tractor plant building tractors. That was 1965. I guess I worked in every aspect of building these tractors. I worked there until the plant closed in 1985. I still miss the old tractors and once in a while I go back to rock island and drive by the old factory. Third Brush Generators - by Chris Pratt. While I love straightening sheet metal, cleaning, and painting old tractors, I use every excuse to avoid working on the on the electrics. I find the whole process sheer mystery. I have picked up and attempted to read every auto and farm electrics book with no improvement in the situation. They all seem to start with a chapter entitled "Theory of Electricity". After a few paragraphs I usually close the book and go back to banging out dents.
